THE ROUND-UP: BUDGET DAY IN ALBERTA

Alberta posted a historic FIVE BILLION deficit today!

Just  about every service government provides will cost more. There is a new health-care levy, taxes on gas are up and the flat income tax system is being  retooled so that the wealthy will pay more.

Interestingly the government was careful not to change the 10 per cent corporate income tax rate for fear of sending the province into recession. They have also elected not to change oil royalties.

Up next Ottawa and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Is recession preventable?
