The Game of Thrones continues in Newfoundland and Labrador.  Nominations for the Iron Throne re-open at noon today. Those interested in the poison chalice have until noon on July 7th to submit nomination papers.

The struggle amongst the various houses for the throne began months ago when unpopular House Dunderdale was forced to abdicate. Controversial House Barry, Bennett and Coleman contested for the throne but interference from House Williams led to the resignation of Barry. Bennett was thrown out by the small council for alleged racist comments he made during the contest.

Coleman changed the Kings Guard was preparing to occupy the Iron Throne when family support collapsed and he was forced to pull-out just weeks before his coronation.

The small council pushed the reset button, announcing new leadership dates on June 20th.  House Williams announced that the new date for a leadership was September 12-13th at the Delta Convention Centre in St. John’s.

Tommy Williams , older brother of Danny Williams, announced that the delegate selection meetings will begin on July 14th and close on August 14th. The leader will be picked by secret ballot.  The PC's declined the opportunity to embrace a more inclusive process which might have helped re-energize the party in favor of a closed delegate convention.

To be fair with Winter coming quickly, innovation appears to be the last thing on the party's agenda with so much energy being directed towards damage control and trying to keep the once magnificent ship afloat.

If you have $10,000 and can past the smell test, you too can seek the Iron Throne.
