A sure sign of a spring election, signs are popping up in the snow banks, intersections and open spaces in Virgina Waters.
At this point it looks like the candidates are vying for the elusive snow people vote who seem to be the most engaged during the first week of the campaign. Frosty and his family are showing their support by displaying signs on the frozen snow banks they call home which border all of the city’s streets.
I hope that each campaign is ensuring that the snow vote is taking advantage of the special ballot to ensure that their votes are committed to a ballot before the spring thaw. It has been my experience that the snow vote is fickle. An army of signs illustrating a strong presence that often just melts away come election day.
Signs do not vote. Signs in public spaces do not vote. Signs on people's lawns and in windows are a much stronger gauge of what voter’s intentions actually are.
I predict that the Conservative support in Virginia Waters will go the way of the winter snow.
