WHEN TORONTO'S MAIN EVENT IS JUST AS BAD AS ITS SIDESHOW

Winning by default is a pretty hallow victory.

The best that can be said of you is that you were in the right place at the right time and were the lesser of two evils.

That appears to be the political reality in Canada's largest and most powerful city where the leadership at the top reflects Boss Hoggs of Duke of Hazard fame. Is it any wonder they call it hogtown with all the sloshing at the trough and porky Ford at the helm.

Come on Toronto. You are the heart of the nation, the cultural and artistic mecca of our great nation. Surely there are a few good, civic minded men and women who are willing to sacrifice their cozy existence for the sake of Canada.

A column in today's Globe and Mail puts the mess in perspective. Give it a read.
