MURPHY, Donald Joseph “Don” – Passed suddenly and peacefully away at home on November 26, 2013 after a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer.
Donald Joseph Murphy, age 53 years. Don was a broadcast instructor at the journalism department of College of the North Atlantic, Stephenville.
Don’s passion for journalism and his dedication towards his students never waned. His laugh was all encompassing and his experience knew no bounds.
Don is predeceased by his parents Elizabeth “Betty” and Edward “Ted” Murphy and his niece Megan Murphy. Leaving to mourn, his brothers and sisters Elizabeth Crawford (Stead), Marie Armstrong (Frank), Clem “Ted” (Doris), Carmelita Porter (Stuart), Clare and Gerard (Tina), his nephews and nieces Michael Crawford (Adrienne Mercer), Andrea Crawford (Lee Boswell), Katherine French (Stephen), Heather Murphy (Chris Robertson), Mark Murphy, Emma Porter (Mike Peddle), Ian Porter and Michael Murphy, his great-nieces and nephew Sophia Manning, Sam and Emily French.
As per Don’s request, cremation has already taken place. Visitation at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Friday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 9:30 from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist with inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to the Janeway Children’s Hospital or another charity of one’s choice.
