A startling report from the Committee to Protect Journalists - President Obama is  the “most aggressive” since the President Richard M. Nixon administration —  to silence government officials and the media at large.

Over the past few weeks I have been trying to understand the recent spate of criticism directed at Obama from prominent American journalists and academics. In fact, I have been reading more Noam Chomsky, Bob Woodward & the late Micheal Hastings trying to make sense of how misguided the administration has become.

Controversial whistleblower Edward Snowden has shown that the National Security Agency has specifically targeted journalists who wrote critically about the federal government.

The report offers a survey of the ways that the Obama presidency has ushered in a paralyzing climate of fear for journalists and sources alike, one that severely threatens the news-gathering process.
