CLICKING YOUR WAY TO THE WORLD'S CULTURAL GIANTS

A rainy day with nowhere to go? Can’t afford a holiday to tour some of the world’s greatest cultural treasures? Don’t be sad, the epicenters of culture are just a click away.

Many of the worlds museums and art galleries have digitized their collections. The Louvre, the Guggenheim, the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian are all on-line.

Check out some great links at this link to Gizmodo’s excellent article on virtual museums.

There is also the Virtual Museum of Canada.

Back when I was part of The Rooms construction committee, an important goal was to create a Virtual Rooms so that students and those living outside the capital could access our cultural, historic and art treasures on-line.

The Rooms does offer some excellent virtual exhibits, but a full first person walk-through is still not available.

If you have never been to The Rooms, you do not know what you are missing. The breathtaking vistas of the city and the harbor, surrounded by the Provincial Art Gallery, Museum and Archives is second to none.
