While "crack" and "overspending/fraud" scandals rock the headlines in Canada, the British are bracing for a sex scandal.

Prime Minister David Cameron is in lock-down holding crisis meetings with his staff after learning of  allegations of a sensational love affair which has potentially significant political implications for him.

The Mail disclosed the broad outline of the scandal, but for legal reasons was unable to report the details. Cameron's hold on the prime ministership has been tenuous at best.

The Conservative Party has been mired been in scandals and backbench revolts.  Conservative Party whip Patrick Mercer resigned last week after he was caught accepting cash for questions in the house, from lobbyists. Conservative Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans has been facing allegations of sexual assault.

Is it any wonder no politics is such a dirty word.

It amazes me that people care so much who sleeps with whom.
