Board gaming continues it’s renascence with North American families.

Readers of P&P know that I am board game fanatic. Games are so much more social than watching a movie. They allow for different generations to interact, sit down and have fun. I only wish there was more people who shared my love of gaming.

That wish appears to becoming true.

Hasbro’s first quarter financial results show that sales of game products were a major factor in the company’s overall positive performance. Hasbro’s net revenue was up 2 percent from the first quarter of last year, to $664 million.

Rio Grande Games has seen more than a 100 percent increase in board game sales during the past five years.

I have also noticed that many of my favorite strategically themed Eurogames like Settlers, Ticket To Ride, Carcassonne and Dominion. are selling at Chapters and Toys-R-Us.

The summer is coming, check our your local game stores for some proven standards and new choices for the cabin or for home.

Drop me a line for some suggestions or even a tutorial.
