From the WTF file comes the story of 17-year-old Wang Shangkun .

Shang really, really wanted an iPad, but the poor high school student from Anhui Province had no money. He stumbled on an on-line group that offered cash for a kidney.  Wang was given $3,529 (USA) for his  kidney which was transplanted on April 28, 2011.

Wang purchased an iPhone and an iPad with the money. He was in tech heaven until his body suffered renal failure. At this point he fessed up to his mother about the Kidney deal.

This week a surgeon and six others were jailed yesterday over their involvement in the case.

Human organ trade has become a huge black market industry in China where is illegal to trade or sell  donations from living donors, except for close family members.

Statistics from the Ministry of Health show that about 1.5 million Chinese need organ transplants, but only around 10,000 transplants are performed annually due to a lack of donors, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
