The Marketing Research and Intelligence Association has taken one of its own to task for  violating rules of professional conduct.

Campaign Research was identified as the company responsible for implementing a Conservative strategy to identify votes in very Liberal Montreal area riding of Mount Royal. The calls suggested that the incumbent MP was stepping down, which was a blatant lie.

The M.P, Irwin Cotler complained to the House of Commons. While the Speaker of the House did state that the behavior was "reprehensible” he did not agree that they prevented Cotler’s from serving his constituents.

The decision just goes to show a continual pattern of abuse of election laws by the Conservative Party of Canada in their permanent campaign to unseat opposition members of Parliament. The CONservatives are using the letter of the law to defeat the spirit of the laws.

These rules, spending or organizational are the bedrock of our democracy. They are designed to create an even playing field.

That said, political expediency employed by federal and provincial CONservatives in this province has made a prostitute out of out democracy.

They really could care less about anything but winning. Take this quote from a CBC story earlier this year:

“A source who worked in the Conservative war room says all's fair in love and politics. "It's hockey, it's not figure skating, right?"

That appears to be the culture of the Conservative Party when it comes to campaigning. The pattern goes right back to the infamous Chuck Cadman affair. Lets not forget the In and Out Scandal in which the Conservative Party of Canada agreed to repay $230,198.00 for its role in violating Canadian election spending laws.

I would be remiss not to mention the ridiculous situation surrounding Peter the Cheater. The Labrador MP and Federal Cabinet Minister is a national disgrace - but the Prime Minister is resolute in his support for him.

Why....because the culture of the CONservative team is to win at all costs.Remeber what  Michael Ignatieff said about this crowd  " This is the central organizing team of the Conservative Party of Canada accused of serious election violations.”

Who put the CON in Conservative?

It certainly was not Preston Manning or Joe Clark.

That said, political expediency employed by federal and provincial CONservatives  has made a prostitute out of our democracy.
