The man considered to be frontrunner in the Provincial Liberal Leadership race will be addressing St. John’s Liberals at a brunch tomorrow morning.

Dean MacDonald will be the guest speaker at a sold out event sponsored by the Quidi Vidi Liberal District Association.

I am told that the $30 tickets sold like hot cakes, which is no surprise considering that MacDonald is in high demand. Liberal supporters and potential supporters want to size up the person considered best able to retire the debt, breathe new life into the party and attract candidates that have been reluctant to support the party in this period of Progressive Conservative domination.

Dynamic new leaders are tall orders. It is hard to think of anyone more dynamic than Dean for leader of the Liberal Party, he certainly has some remarkable credentials for the job.

MacDonald is part of a Liberal Renewal Committee that is touring the province strengthening the grassroots  on the road  to rebuilding,  consulting, enhancing the party policy platform, ramping up fund-raising and membership efforts, and modernizing and Party structure.

He is a decent, independent, and successful straight shooter who never seems to shy away from an issue or hesitates to express his opinion.

I am looking forward to the Liberal Party offering an alternative, and electable alternative to the arrogance of the current administration.

I guess the desperation hits when the only thing criticism you have is weight.
