Apple had a pretty big day
yesterday.
They announced a couple of
new products yesterday that certainly caught my fancy. The new super slimmer,
faster version has an edge that's just
5mm thin. It also has Apple’s new "fusion drive," a combination of a
flash drive and a hard will have up to three terabytes of storage. With either
a quad-core i5 or i7 Intel processor and NVIDIA Kepler graphics, the new iMac
is a serious desktop. They have also reworked the LCD screen making for the
most spectacular video yet!
The other biggie was the unveiling
of the iPad Mini. It has a 7.9-inch screen and weighs
just 0.68 lb, and is 7.2mm thick. Apple says the Mini was
built from the ground up and is not just a shrunken iPad. Whatever, I see it
being the must buys gadget this Christmas season.
Other announcements included
a 13-inch iteration of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display that is a pound lighter
and 20% thinner. They also released an update of the Mac Mini
O yea, the announced the 4th
generation iPad.
It looks much like the third
generation, but it has a lot more guts. The new iPad has an A6X processor,
which they says will double the CPU power and double the graphics power. Another
change, it has a lightning dock connector at the centre of the bottom, instead
of the old 30-pin dock connector.
Once again, I find myself
behind the apple curve.
Must fight the urge to
update......
