You supported this government Peter.
I had an interesting response to my post on Blackberry PINs. The anonymous poster stated “You supported this government Peter.”
It is a disingenuous statement that deserves some consideration. What is support? Have I financially supported the Progressive Conservative Party? NO – never! Have I campaigned on behalf of the Progressive Conservative Party? NO – never! Have I written blog posts supporting policies that I like – you bet yea! Have I written posts and letters to the editor, done media interviews, and made comments on public affairs programs criticizing this government – indeed!
The blanket statement that I have supported this government is wrong. What I have not done is view the Liberals or the New Democrats through rose coloured glasses. I remain an equal opportunity pundit who calls each issue as I see it, with frig all consideration for towing some entrenched party line.
Issues of which I've been most critical since starting this blog have been the government's handling of communications, its lack of accountability and transparency, and its zealous if not downright foolish approach to destroying the spirit of freedom of information legislation.
I have written dozens of posts attacking the post-2003 administration for its approach to reporters, individuals, municipal councilors and others.
If I am to be held up as an example of a supporter, then the PC’s are in deep trouble.
