RESTLESS NIGHTS

Another muggy, sleepless night!

I woke up at 3 a.m., with Aidan cuddled up to me in a pool of sweat. There was no getting back to sleep after that. The past couple of nights have been the worst since the kids were teething. No one is sleeping well.

Our windows are all wide open in an attempt to generate a flow of cool air. The muggy stretch means I have spent a few sweaty, sleepless nights flipping a pillow over and over, seeking the refreshing refuge of its cooler side. Pacing aimlessly about the house watching the clock, too tired and restless to read, blog or surf the net!  Frustration mounts as tiredness mauls every thought but sleep refuses to come.

The dawn chorus got underway at around 5 a.m. Lots of birds chirping and the cats were chewing at the bit to get outside! I laid on the couch listening to it then decided I really needed my morning cup of coffee.

The temperature at 7:30 a.m. is already up to 21 C!

I overhead someone telling a tourist yesterday that we have had two summers in one this year. No doubt, this summer has to have offered the longest stretch of great weather that this bayman can recall.

Another groggy morning, a slight headache seems like a fair pay-off for this incredible weather!

It is going to be a long day and evening at work!

There is a $99 solution to be found - an in-window air conditioner.
