School is out next week and the summer break begins.

Not only do I have to find ways to keep my tribe entertained, the co-ordination of the Knights Of Columbus Summer Camp at Mary Queen of Peace is front and center. This year we are lucky to have Memorial University Justin Grainger, a former Sea-hawk as our head Councillor.

Coordinating a quality summer camp is a lot more work, even with students, than one might think. There is liabilities, medical considerations, field trips, receipts, workers compensation, Revenue Canada Remissions, CPP and planning activities.

I am in the process of looking at some cool outdoor activities and some fun ways to utilize the gym on those rainy days. I am looking around for economical giant-sized board games. A couple of Google searches later, I found a number if companies that sell giant versions of Pick-up-sticks, Chess, Snakes & Ladders, Connect 4, Tic-Tac-Toe, Scrabble, Checkers and even Monopoly.

If you are running a youth program or a Summer Camp, check out some of these really great games that will help keep the kids entertained over the summer. I am hoping our modest budget will allow us to pick up a few of them. The idea of a executing a game of chess on a soccer pitch really excites me.

Actually, I think there may be a great business opportunity here for the children's birthday and special celebration market!

If you are looking for a cheap alternative this summer, touch base. The program is just $60 a week.
