The stomach flu bug is making the rounds.

So far, so good for me but it has been tearing through the house. Conor came home from school sick early last week, Kris was off on Friday and Aidan spend a good part of the night talking to Ralph on the great white phone.

I have a few friends who say this bug hit them last week resulting in some downtime from vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps and more.

Viral gastroenteritis is caused by viruses that attack the stomach and intestines. It is not the "flu" and it is highly contagious. The best prevention is to be diligent with hand washing, it is your best defense.

The most likely culprit, the Norovirus,  can spread like wildfire in any crowded place, causing outbreaks in day care centers, schools, cruise ships, hospitals and nursing homes.

Noroviruses are tough and resilient. They can live for days on household surfaces, which is why they spread easily. Use a bleach-based cleaner to kill virus particles on hard surfaces.

I had better run Liam to school and drop by Shoppers for some Ginger Ale.
