What do you do with the apathy problem in this country?

How do we get more people to participate in the political system as candidates and voters?

It has become a perplexing problem. More of us growing apathetic and tuning out the politicians. The result is a deeper disengagement that has led to low voter turn-outs and majority rule with less than 40% of the vote.

In the last federal election, just over 60% of those eligible to vote, participated. 39% of Canadians stayed home, handing the keys to the fire station to the Conservative arsonists. They have been searing our national institutions, programs and international reputation ever since in the hope of creating a great Conservative nation out of the ashes.

In Mexico, some female candidates are attempting to jolt the electorate out of their state of lethargy.

Philosophy professor Natalia Juarez wants to be in Mexico's congress. Her wake up-call for voters is a bit non-traditional but very in-your-face. She and six other women have posed topless on billboards!

She is appealing to the center left. She says that "Conservative people are never going to vote for me, never...even if I dressed as a nun and carried a rosary and said that my party was going to give away Bibles and rosaries, they wouldn't."

The radical candidate, with radical ideas for her country says this is only the first round of her campaign and if people are shocked, it is nothing compared with the second phase which she will unveil in the next few weeks!
