"When respondents were asked who was the
most competent leader, Harper dropped
almost 14 percentage points from 38.1 per
cent to 24.2 per cent."

For those lost souls in the Liberal Party who still think the NDP surge provincially and federally was a one time protest, reality must be setting in.

The latest  Nanos Research poll shows the NDP are surging and are now statistically tied with the Conservatives. Harper's Conservatives are at at 34.7 per cent and the Mulcair's New Democrats at 32.4per cent of committed voters. That poll's margin of error is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points, 19 times out of 20. Nanos has been uncannily accurate.

The even bigger news is related to the leadership numbers that show Prime Minister Harper is in a free fall. Two months ago the Conservative leader polled as the most trustworthy party leader with 32% of respondents. In this poll he dropped  12 points to 20%. The news gets worse for Harper, he slipped from 38% to 24% on the question of most competent leader and fell 11% from 32.6 to 21.6 % for the leader with the best vision.

The Liberals are at 23.3 per cent.

Support for the provincial NDP in Newfoundland and Labrador has been continuously rising.  The latest Corporate research poll pegged them at  28%.  They were at  26% in November 2011, 24% in August 2011, and 8% last March!
