A fixture on St. John's radio has passed away, too soon!

Big Tom, the voice behind Saturday in the Shed and co-host of the K-Rock Morning Show was suddenly rushed to hospital last week. He never recovered!

He blurred lines between his personal and on-air life making him adored by his fans. He used the shed to promote charities and raise money for causes.

I only met him a few times but got the feeling he had an incredible passion for his job and the welfare of others. He used his larger than life profile to raise money and the profile of so many organizations.

Tom joins a all-star team of broadcasters from St. John's at the Big #1 who left this plain of existence too early.  Great folks like the late Paul Magee and Ken Ash, whom I had the pleasure of working with in my radio days.

My thoughts go out to his family and many friends.

Big Tom was from Bell Island. His real name was Tom Fitzgerald

'Big Tom'was a fixture on Saturdays and in the mornings for this radio listener, and he will certainly be leaving Big shoes to fill.

R.I.P. Tom
