The silly season is coming up.
With only 55 days to go before this fall's general election, some folks are getting a bit touchy about my political commentary and observations.
As a result, P&P is going to take a break for an undetermined period. I thought about switching gears but it is difficult to teach an old dog a new trick.
Thanks for taking the time to read and participate.

Peter, don't let the crap get to you. Your's is a personal opinion blog and that opinion may be political, economic, social or whatever. Your choice. Your effort. Your craftmanship. I enjoy reading your material and so do the other visitors. Keep on keeping on bro. vp
I thought that was the idea......"making people touchy and on edge about your commentary and political observations"
I was enjoying the opportuinty to flick out comments on this Blog about how dillusional the other Liberal bloggers were being. A shame, because now we can't comment or read local material without the sanctimonious and greater than though crap that seems to be the order of the day for some humble scribblers..... sigh!!
Booooo....
So whats the real reason, were you threatened? Are you now going to work for the Libs? Why would you give up?
Peter
I wish you would re-consider€. Your contribution to NL blogging will be missed, especially with things heating up for the fall elections.
Hell No.
Pete you are respected for saying as it is. Please think about staying on
Another one bites the dust....I assume you are going back to the opposition office.
Good luck with that!
Are you replace Craig Westcott?
Nope.
Maybe somebody should create a new blog ya ya that’s the ticket!
An open Blog where it is strictly peoples comments. It generates topics from local news feeds and people comment as they see fit.
Example cbc reports: Capital City mayor orders new fire truck
And people comment
Billy says: nice truck!
Nancy says: Wow great colour
Tommy toe says: That fire truck is no good. Yaw needs one with a better horn and a Dalmatian dog sitting up front with the driver. Like they got in Mt pearl.
Suzie say: yes and a bright white ladder 80ft long like Mt pearl
So then the capital city mayor announces on vocm that he intends to buy a better horn and go to the SPCA to get a dog but they have no Dalmatians. So he suggests a big Newfoundland dog. Fitting for the oldest sea port in North America Also ordering a special a 100ft bright white ladder (wanting to beat Mt pearl by at least 20ft )
The mayor of Mt pearl gets wind of all this by reading the VOCM website and immediately makes a press release
Vocm reports Mt pearl mayor says New city Fire dog not certified for the truck rides.
And people comment
Jimmy says: That’s a drag that dog would have liked riding in that truck (ears blowing in the wind and all)
Sally says: rules are rules and safety is number one!
Father Noah say: if there is a will there is a way, and that dog should have retraining
Mildred says: I’m going to call in to open-line and tell randy to rally support for New city Fire dog.
Skipper bob says: The New city Fire dog will cost the capital city 10million dollars in jerky-treat cost over runs and poop-patrol double backs. Budgets will get out of control.
Then the new MP for St. John’s south (the NEW mouth from the south) Capt Newfoundland : Ryan Cleary. Gets wind of all this and reviews all important briefing on the matter and calls everybody on the phone and later a press statement is released
The front page headline the next day in “The telegram” reads
NEW FIRE TRUCK & EQUIPMENT SENT BACK : DOG and MAYOR relieved .
VOCM REPORTS
MT PEARL Gets A DEAL ON A NEW 100(FT fire ladder)tallest in all the land
CBC reports: Former mayor Andy Wells adopts new dog, calls him “Chief”
farewell
I am not happy with that decision; we need open debate in this province.
But in the end it is your choice.
I guess we can all head on over to the SRBP blog and express our opinions and/or viewpoints(being facsetious here).
I may not agree with Peter on all his viewpoints, but at least I can say so or post a contrary opinion/viewpoint without being told I am a sock puppet or some other form of condescension.
You provided a balanced perspective that will be hard to replace. I hope the rumors of your impending employment with the Opposition Office are not true. All the kings horses and all the Kings men can not put that together again.
Peter,
At least you have the stones to publish criticisms of your points of view.
You have made people think and debate.
Bond Papers and Nottawa cannot make such claims.
Come on, do not run away
I think this is a blogsite worth reading and contributing to.
The Sir Robert Bond Papers is moderated by a guy who backed a liberal leadership candidate (Coffey) who only got 15 percent of the vote.
That's not displaying political savvy, that's just embarrassing.
Polemic and Paradox is more dialed into the reality of the day than the other Newfoundland blogs out there.
We all know who the "anonymous" comments are coming from.
Really. Do tell.
Who is it?
All I can say is thanks for the kind comments but a sabbatical is needed. In the interim, enjoy the links. It would be nice to think people are still popping in until the silly season passes.
The attack of the "sock puppets"
Sorry to see you go. Good luck with your new gig!
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven ~
2 A time to give birth, and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; A time to tear down, and a time to build up.
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance.
5 A time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to shun embracing.
6 A time to search, and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep, and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; A time to be silent, and a time to speak.
Thought you were giving it all up?!!
Saw a post today :)
