THEY ARE BACK

A few weeks ago I found the first season of the Smurfs on DVD. I had forgotten just how often I watched those little blue guys and one girl. NTV played it over and over again. Considering we had only two channels it got viewed a lot. Than there was Rocket Robin Hood and Barbapapa. Yes, kids' television has evolved. My favorite was the House of Dr. Frankenstein, Wolf Man Jack might have been my career model for radio!

I am waxing eloquent on children's shows of my lost youth because another classic is about to find new life. The Fraggles are coming to the big screen. Gobo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober and Red will venture outside their home in Fraggle Rock and presumably get up to all manner of Fraggle mischief. Hey, what happened to Uncle Traveling Matt?

Fraggle Rock was broadcast in more than 80 countries, though not many people realize it was filmed in Toronto. It was a co-production of Britain’s TVS, the CBC, HBO and Henson Associates. It ran from 1983-1987.
