IN THE LAND OF THE BLIND

"I don't know anyone who could get through the day without two or three juicy rationalizations. They're more important than sex." - THE BIG CHILL
I had to cut and paste the comment below from the CBC website. It is in response to the interview with Judge Gomery on CBC Radio this morning about issues surrounding the Cameron Inquiry. So the inquiry is going to ruin our healthcare system by - what? Revealing too many problems? Thus requiring that the government put too much money into solving them? Better that patients stop asking so many damned questions and take what care is given to them, I guess.

Anyways here is Leatherneck's opinion from the CBC comment section:

One would have to know all of the details around this to fully understand the problem. The inquiry has asked for additional time and money. They want much longer than was originally slated. This keeps the pressure on the existing health care system, which is in a crisis of sorts.

All of this has been stated publicly, and agreed on by all. NL has been short several Pathologists for some time. No question there! The few remaining Pathologists have issued a warning, and some have already left the province. (We appear to have a Canada wide shortage of Pathologists, so relieving this stress is no short order!) The people who were affected by this problem are waiting for compensation. Prolonging this process probably delays payment to those people. I guess its like they say, it's easy to stand on the sidelines and yell at the quarterback, but its quite a bit harder when you have the ball.

Personally, I think Mr. Gomery can call this whatever he wants, but as a NL'er, I need to know that my Premier is looking out for my best interests. Mr. Williams called for this inquiry so that NL'ers like me would know what happened. I don't think that should be at the expense of destroying what's left of our existing health care system. My aunt just had a long battle with breast cancer, and is now doing well, so my family & I need that system intact! Personally, I don't care if protecting my healthcare means stepping on the toes of a few Lawyers. After all, health care Lawyers were the ones who suggested hiding this from the public in the first place. Lawyers are now the ones beating up on the witnesses.

The Lawyers are prolonging the process, and they have already racked up a 3 quarter million dollar bill for the public to pay! Before you know it, the Lawyers will be trying to deny the affected people payment. As far as I'm concerned, the Lawyers can take their lumps!
