The municipal race in St. John's is a snore! As a matter of fact, since Andy left for the PUB, municipal politics has become downright boring. So much in fact that your humble blogger has had to look elsewhere for a fix. I found one in Carrolltown, Texas.

Mayor Becky Miller is looking for a second term in Saturday's election. She has a colorful past. Becky sang backup for Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne. Engaged to Eagles singer-songwriter Don Henley. Devastated by a brother's death in Vietnam. She has lived quite the life, the only problem is that she hasn't. And to make matters worse, the Dallas Morning News has decided to call her out on it.

This time around the media and her competition are giving the Mayor's resume and background a closer examination and Becky, it seems, has been padding her memory book. Her father, Edward Sampson, said his son is alive in Maryland. "He was never in the service,". The Dallas Morning News also raised questions about her singing career and whether she attended Western Kentucky University.

Watching her get progressively more and more angry as the article goes on is fine entertainment. You really get the sense that if things continue for too much longer she's going to start throwing things, perhaps even herself, from a bridge.

O for just a little bit of controversy in our municipal election.
