EASTERN CONTINUES TO MESS UP

Is it just me or does this "formal apology" to hundreds of breast cancer patients from Eastern Health just seem a little off in its timing and sincerity. I would like to say that Eastern cannot catch a break but does incompetence really deserve one.

CBC is reporting today that one cancer patient was glad to receive a letter from interim chief executive officer Louise Jones, even if the letter inside was addressed to another patient. You have to admit that really takes the sincerity out of the genuine approach.

It reeks of reaction. In March, following several days of testimony involving cancer patients, all of whom told the inquiry that they had never received an apology for what had happened to them, Eastern Health board chair Joan Dawe offered a verbal apology for "the pain and anxiety that patients and their families have endured."

Another thing that comes to mind is that revelations that Eastern health cannot even put a letter in an envelope and mail it to the right person undermines the public's trust in the corporation's ability to get anything right. What does this say about their ability to keep track of our vital health records?
